Upon receiving Wang Tianao’s request for a recommendation, I am pleased to take this chance to express my thoughts and endorse his application for your esteemed program. As the leader of the iMED Laboratory, a professor at Southern University of Science and Technology, and Tianao’s academic supervisor, I have witnessed his transformation from an inexperienced teenager to a research talent who demonstrates a strong ability for independent thinking, and an established foundation in professional knowledge and skills.

Tianao first expressed his deep interest in joining our lab during his sophomore year and told me that he firmly believes “health is people’s primary pursuit.” Since then, he has been a frequent visitor to our laboratory, both during term-time and vacation periods, where he spends his time studying and working on projects. Moreover, Tianao has always been proactive in planning his academic pursuits, carefully selecting courses that align with his research interests and goals, and consistently achieving excellent grades. When I first met him, his GPA was already impressive, but he has continued to work hard and improve his academic performance.

Since 2022, he has been supervised by myself throughout the innovative practical projects he has been involved in. Tianao and his team chose to work on a project focused on the diagnosis and assisted analysis of intracranial aneurysms. At their first project defense, I was impressed by the depth of their research and worked closely with Tianao and his group to develop a comprehensive three-semester work plan. Under my supervision, the project has made significant progress, with successful results in both the segmentation of intracranial aneurysms and the division of arterial segments, enabling the rough localization of tumor locations. I am delighted to see that Tianao’s team was recognized with an award in the Challenge Cup for their outstanding achievements.

In addition to his impressive academic achievements, Tianao also serves as the class president of the Computer Science and Technology program and demonstrates exceptional communication and coordination skills. He is a supportive and collaborative team member who goes out of his way to help his classmates and has even recommended my lab to students who held no previous understanding of our research group.

I have no doubt that he will excel in any academic program he pursues. He has the intellectual curiosity, drive, and ability to succeed in a highly competitive academic environment.
